Will Carlo Ancelotti Be The Next Everton Manager

Everton are seeking their fifth manager in less than four years, after the recent sacking of Marco Silva, and Carlo Ancelotti is hot favourite to be offered the job.  Club owner, Farhad Moshiri, is said to be in talks with the 60-year old Italian veteran who has a tremendous pedigree in European football, being one of only three managers to have won the UEFA Champions League three times.

Ancelotti was himself sacked from S.S.C. Napoli last week after a fruitless period of 9 domestic games without a win, and a reported falling out with club chairman, Aurelio de Laurentiis.    Ironically, his dismissal took place after he led Napoli to the last 16 of the Champions League. He is said to be looking for a new club with no delay and Everton, provided Moshiri commits to continuing his programme of investment in both players and facilities (the club is due to move to the Bramley-Moor Dock Stadium for the 2023/24 season), may be a good fit.  Bookmaker SkyBet offers odds of 1/5 that Carlo Ancelotti will be the next Everton Manager.

Former Everton striker, Duncan Ferguson, is currently the caretaker manager at Goodison Park but has distanced himself from the prospect of becoming manager.  That said, SkyBet offers odds of 6/1 that he does take on the job. He has overseen the Toffees’ 3-1 win over Chelsea and the recent 1-1 draw away against Manchester United, injecting energy and heart back into the team, and will certainly be in charge for the forthcoming Carabao Cup quarter-final match against Leicester at home tomorrow.

Another name is the mix is David Moyes, who managed Everton for 11 years until his ill-fated departure for Manchester United in 2013.  He may be considered as a safe option whilst longer term solutions are sought, in the eventuality that negotiations fail to secure the Italian’s services.  Odds of 9/1 are offered by SkyBet that David Moyes will return to Goodison Park.

With Everton currently 16th in the Premier League, Farhad Moshiri is keen for major positive change to challenge the top 6 teams in the future.   Carlo Ancelotti, who has had enormous experience and success across Europe, would be his ideal manager choice.
